Cami Layé Okún

Bartolo and fono teaming up together to bring you a strictly wax dance party in downtown Kuala Lumpur featuring Cami Layé Okún.

Known for bringing her infectious global sounds and extensive vinyl collection of Cuban disco, forward-thinking Latin electronic, Afro-Caribbean rarities, Tropical Amazonian funky grooves, and much more to the dance floor, as well as to the airwaves with her fortnightly “INSOLAR” radio show on NTS.

More recently, “INSOLAR” has become her burgeoning event concept, which sees Cami bringing her unique sonic energies and curatorial expertise to festival stages and club takeovers, such as recent outings at Le Guess Who in Utrecht (Netherlands), The Pickle Factory in London (UK), L’Alimentation Générale in Paris (France), El Kntcky in Mexico City (Mexico) and Jolene in Copenhagen (Denmark).
Supporting the night are DC-based Les The DJ and Yugo T off Baa Records & 22 Nakhonnok from Songkhla. Both are no strangers to fono parties and are equally serious diggers well known for their Asian funk and boogie vinyl selection.

If you’ve made it this far, here’s a little trivia. Central Market was once a go-to hangout spot for the Malaysian underground music community in the 90s and the Annexe itself has hosted countless counter-culture events in the early 2000s - from hardcore punk shows, experimental electronic audio-visual performances, alternative book fairs, and gatherings for social justice activists.
